At the Edge of Comfort | A duo show along with @niki__danai at @galeriebasiaembiricos , @parisdesignwee | The exhibition takes inspiration from Brian Catling’s provocative sentiment, “I like perversity, I am attracted to the wrongness of actions, and the wrongness of doing things,” to present a series of artifacts that challenge ideas of utility, comfort, and conventional joy. These pieces deliberately subvert traditional perceptions, inviting viewers to contemplate the unconventional and the absurd. The aluminum and bronze sculptures were created without direct eye contact; these pieces emerge from a process of digging into clay, forming negative spaces that hint at unseen forms. Once the clay is removed, the final plaster piece is revealed, capturing the essence of each unseen movement. This method, reminiscent of an archaeological excavation, emphasizes the raw, unfiltered impact of action and invites viewers to question whether these sculptures are human-made or natural objects, blurring boundaries and embracing the unpredictable.
